Types of Asthma

No one has the exact same symptoms in asthma. That's because there are different types of asthma. So there is allergic asthma, intrinsic asthma and severe asthma. Often someone has multiple forms of asthma simultaneously.

Allergic asthma


Allergic asthma is one of the types of asthma that often. With this version you get short of breath when you inhale incentives which you are allergic. The example could be pollen, dust mites or dander (domestic) animals. Certain nutrients or constituents in allergic asthma medications can provoke an attack. The body then makes the substance histamine, which the allergic reaction. Not everyone with allergic asthma is allergic to the same stimuli and not to the same extent. Some people with allergic asthma also respond to non-allergic stimuli such as cold, fog and damp air.

Intrinsic asthma

In intrinsic asthma are non-allergic stimuli which provoke complaints. It is therefore sometimes called non-allergic asthma. Substances such as exhaust fumes, smoke, gas, perfume or detergents are the culprits. Even if someone has a scent hours ago sprayed, you can still be scared of. Weather conditions can also cause problems with intrinsic asthma. These are mainly cold, fog and damp air.

Effort Asthma

It may be that you are distressed by sudden exertion, such as sports or if you make a run for the bus. Exercise Asthma occurs primarily when you quickly move. In exercise-induced asthma is therefore important to slow to start an activity, so that the lungs can get used to the transition from rest to exercise. Stress and strong emotions, particularly with exercise-induced asthma, the symptoms worse. The temperature and humidity can also affect exertional asthma. Cold and humid air are often unpleasant for people with exercise-induced asthma.

Severe asthma

Of the different types of asthma, severe asthma fortunately the least common. Around one in ten people suffer from asthma. Severe asthma with medication but difficult to control, so you probably have many complaints. Some people with severe asthma should do regularly to the hospital for treatment.
