Asthma is a chronic inflammation of the lungs. Chronic means that it is permanent. In asthma, mucous in the lungs always irritated, which can cause many symptoms.
If you have asthma, your lungs more sensitive to stimuli that other people do not suffer from it. Think of smoke, fumes, dust mites or pets. In asthma the lungs react violently to these stimuli, so you can be stuffy or cough. If this acute arises, we call that an asthma attack. Not everyone responds to the same stimuli and it depends on the person how bad the asthma is. Also, there are different types of asthma.
Difficulty in breathing

Asthma is chronic
Asthma does not all the time symptoms, but it is a chronic disease. This is because the lungs in asthma always a little inflamed. That is not the same as pneumonia: pneumonia in the lungs are inflamed by bacteria. Asthma Symptoms can sometimes linger for weeks or months, for example after flu. Also, there are some times when you have little to no notice of your asthma.

In the Englands more than half a million people are diagnosed with asthma. There are more women than men with the disease. Of this group of people there are around 115,000 child. It is expected that the number of people with asthma to 2025 rose by two percent.
